The flight crew, yes. [ And she supposes she runs it, despite still not really being sure how that happened. ]

So. I wanna join Flight Crew. I'll do pretty much whatever it takes.

We're not in much of a position to deny help, and we can teach you whatever you need to know.

[ Until you get them so mad that they kick you out or try to throw you out the airlock. ]

I'm going to need a name and any experience with machinery you have -- piloting, driving land vehicles, maintenance, repair, whatever.

I'm Stiles, Stiles Stilinski. My dad's on the ship if you need a reference. I drive a 1973 CJ-5 Jeep and I know most of what's under the hood. Uh, that's about it, but I'm a fast learner.

Quick learners are good, and you're... enthusiastic. I'm guessing you don't have any real space experience, other than this ship?

Old, I know, getting parts is a bitch.

[ of course, he doesn't realize just how old that is for her. ]

Nope! I haven't even graduated high school, so qualifying for the NASA space program isn't happening any time soon.

How old are you?

[ Not that it'll make her deny him -- she was young when she started -- she's just curious and wants to see how he reacts to the question. ]

I turn seventeen in like, three months.

[ so, sixteen. he fidgets a little, more out of habit than nerves. ]

Is that gonna be a problem? Do I need signed permission or something?

It's not a problem. Not with me, anyway. I was just wondering.

[ Jack had been a bit younger when they'd met, as far as she can remember, and she'd done okay. ]

... Though if you do have some sort of guardian on board, I don't need them on my ass if they decide what you're doing is dangerous.

[ stiles heaves a sigh, though he was kind of expecting that. ]

Fiiine. I'll ask my dad first, and get back to you.

[ a pause, and he shoots the screen a hopeful look. ]

Even if he says I can't fly, I can still come, maybe just sit in a shuttle, right?

[ There's a moment of surprise -- she wasn't expecting Stiles to actually have a guardian here, much less an actual parent. ]

Sure. We don't actually get a chance to fly much anyway; I'm trying to get us all to conserve fuel in case we need to abandon ship. Mostly we focus on repairing and maintaining the shuttles, and that we can always use more hands for.

[ Pause. ]
